This is what a Skype Visit looks like

Why book a visit?

A visit from Darius and the crew can be one of the most rewarding experiences for anyone who has seen the film. Students have their questions answered, learn about what the crew’s been working on since the making of DGW and witness firsthand Darius’ positive outlook on life.

More than anything, the crew provides a positive example of motivated youth by showing how a group of 12 school-aged kids managed a project from start to finish against defying odds- and prevailed.

A Visit From Darius?

Over the course of the last two years, Darius has visited hundreds of schools and spoken to thousands of students.

Due to health reasons, Darius is no longer able to travel to schools for visits. However, we are now able to easily video conference Darius in to each classroom to answer questions and speak about the film.

Darius has now done hundreds of video conferences, and the students LOVE interacting with him. Setting up a live video conference is also incredibly easy. Setting up a live virtual visit requires only a computer and an internet connection (we use Skype!).

A Visit From A Crew Member?

Different crew members, as seen in the film, are also able to visit your school and speak to your students.

How much would it cost?

For Darius to video conference with your classroom, we ask classes to raise at least $100. You can get creative to raise the money (bakesales, penny jars, car washes, etc.), but we also provide some tools. For example, if you & your students use our order form to sell [or purchase] ten Darius Goes West DVDs or ten Darius Goes West tshirts, that’s enough for a conference with Darius.

Simply committing to raising this amount is enough effort to set up a Skype. We trust that you’ll deliver before or after the visit occurs.

For a crew member to visit your school, your classroom/school would need to raise $500, plus the cost of travel.

Where does the money go?

Darius Goes West is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductable and used to fund promising DMD research.

Each semester we choose a specific research project to fund. Click here to learn which project students are working to fund this semester.
