“I have never seen a group of high school students moved by anything like they were by the movie ‘Darius Goes West,’” Jan Tugwell, a DECA teacher at Roanoke Rapids High School in North Carolina, recently wrote to us. If you’re familiar with DECA, you know that this (national) youth organization is all about involving students in creating marketing campaigns for projects and causes they’re passionate about. And did these DECA students deliver! They created and held a “Miracle Minute for DMD,” collecting as much money in one minute as they could at their high school. Results? Six hundred bucks raised! THEN, the DECA class formed a team to take the Goslabi Challenge, raising even more funds. Their grand total to date: $1,000…and counting!
